GOOD ASS MUSIC

Now I know the school year just started and y’all got better things to do, but if you’ve had the chance to listen to ANY new music at all I sure hope that it’s included some of the new gems from Mr. West.  Seriously, the last 4 or 5 songs this guy has touched are game-changing, statement making, legacy material.  He’s (not so) quietly changing the landscape of what’s possible and acceptable in mainstream hip-hop and bringing along the biggest names in the game while he does it.  Who doesn’t want to rock it on a K-West beat, huh???

A favorite talking point in rap circles these days is how easy everybody has it because Lil Wayne’s not producing at the moment - not entirely true, see here - http://weezythanxyou.com/

There’s obviously some truth to this (see Teflon Don) however Kanye has managed to relegate industry darling Drake to the world of teenage fandom while stepping into his new role as both this generations Rick James and Marvin Gaye.

Here are links to much more technologically advanced blogs that actually post his music.  Stay tuned to pomo - live mixes, interviews, and file hosting all rolling out soon.

For “Monster” and “Devil in a New Dress” we turn to the good ppl at Jayel Audio - http://jayelaudio.com/2010/09/04/new-kanye-west-monster-and-devil-in-a-new-dress/

The Stu Reid Experiment comes through with the greaterthanthesumofitsparts remix to “Power” - http://www.thestureidexperiment.com/2010/09/hip-hop-your-way-through-weekend.html

And for MORE than just shits and giggles we get the infectious Runaway Love Remix, bringing together the Chef and Kid Bieber - http://kickinthepeanuts.com/?p=10592

have a great weekend

A few drops of music.

Just finished yesterday’s sandwich.  Moving down the list will take me from Italy to the holy land with some legendary knishes - http://www.knishery.com/.

Anyway it’s time for a music post if for no other reason than to honor my commitment to 50% music on the site…

My current ringtone is the screeching opening to the Florida/Brooklyn duo, Seligh Bells’, Crown on The Ground - http://hypem.com/track/1182311/Sleigh+Bells+-+Crown+On+The+Ground

Of course in the current musical climate when tracks receive the remix treatment before they’re even posted to youtube, this band is no exception, so here’s a few examples of the cream of the crop:

Chicago mash-masters, The Hood Internet, took fellow ATLien and RnB sex symbol Usher’s feel-good “OMG” and funked it all up with some of the bells grinding guitar and ethereal vocals.

Mixed reviews on this next link.  Is it the ever more frequent insta-backlash that accompanies indie darlings, or is it justifiably junk - you be the judge!!! - http://prettymuchamazing.com/mp3/jay-z-x-sleigh-bells-jay-bells

Ok, Ok, one more…Childish Gibberish on A Grizzly Bear beat.  Y’know the blog is pomoradio, as in post-modern, as in a plurality of voices.  Well what’s a mashup huh, what’s a remix, huh, what’s modernity, what?  http://famoussoundingwords.com/post/1018213689/childishgambino
